mango banana yogurt smoothie

Smoothies are versatile, yummy, colorful, and convenient.  The best thing I like about them is that you can include as many or as few ingredients depending on your mood and the time of the day.  They are perfect for a quick healthy breakfast or any-time-of-the-day snack.

I usually like to use yogurt as a base for smoothies. I love sneaking greens in them for the nutrients my kids are missing out on, since they are very particular about eating vegetables. Smoothies are really healthy for kids or adults alike.  An extra bit of effort to make 100% healthy smoothies can go a long way, especially if it can keep my family away from commercial juices which are full of preservatives and sugar.  I have nothing but good things to say about smoothies.  Mmm, delicious drinks!

I was planning on making mango coconut smoothie, but then I realized I don’t have coconut milk at home, so I went with banana, vanilla yogurt, and milk.  You can totally swap milk for almond milk, pineapple juice, coconut milk, or completely omit it.

I love tropical flavors in winter, gives me that nostalgic warm feeling of summer!  This is very easy to make and amazingly refreshing.

You will need:
serves 2-3

  • 1.5 cup frozen cubed mango
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup vanilla or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2-1 cup milk, depends on thickness
  • 1-2 tbsp honey, optional

Blend the frozen mango, banana, yogurt, and milk on high until smooth. If you like it sweeter then add honey and blend again.
